  • No regrets.

Great little unit. Programming from computer works, but software is inferior to Chirp. Will be a great day when it is supported by the app. Otherwise, best small 25 watt dual band radio, especially for UTV due to being waterproof.

  • TYT TH 8600

This is a good radio for the price! The Rig is built like a tank! It would be a great radio if some hams were involved in the firmware definition. There is so much more this little radio could do since all the hardware is there already. Look how the MD 380 has been improved with 3rd party firmware! The volume control and rotary selector should be reversed for right handed people. Difficult to see the display when making changes without some fancy hand maneuvering. The programming software is very clunky with no csv import feature, In fact, no import feature at all! Be advised that there is no chirp support currently for this radio either. Other than these things, it is a solid rig and gets excellent audio reports on the air. Checking with my Bird watt meter, it is very close to spec on power output on both bands. (A watt or 2 low on both bands). Letsgetready is always great to deal with and ships fast.

  • Excellent Value.

Radio has an excellent receiver. Both TX and RX audio is excellent. I have owned other 25W mini dual band Chinese branded mobile radios, and this radio, although it costs more than some of the others, is very well built. I own many TYT radios, mostly DMR/FM analog mobiles and HTs and they are all VERY WELL built. My opinion is TYT is emerging as the highest quality Chinese manufacturer for UHF/VHF Amateur mobile equipment.

  • very pleased

unit is well built, love the color display. Programming and use is very friendly and NOT loaded up with junk features- just what you need. Nice little unit, good audio reports and clear received audio. I think I'll buy another. Mine only does 20 watts VHF, not the advertised 25, but if I wanted a high power mobile I'd get one.

  • TYT th8600 good start.

Good size radio. I really like it. Only a couple things to complain about, 1 minor, 1 a bit more troublesome. For one I got reports of weak audio, more power helped but I believe that the IP57 rating may be the cause. More testing is needed. The next is the included software and factory software, and the programming cable for that matter. The included software disk was, well, blank. Downloaded from the factory website was able to start programming but then couldn't download to or from radio.

  • Excellent, life saving radio!

Excellent product, looks good, operates flawlessly!! The sound is good, the dial is easy to see and understand. Really gets out there with the optional power settings!

  • Nice compact transceiver

It's a nice, compact unit but the owners manual leaves some information to be desired such as unlocking the unit for VFO use . However, there is help available on the web. The programming software and cable worked fine making programming much easier than manually doing it. The multi-function mic buttons took some getting used to but works okay.

  • Good bang for the buck

PRO: EXCELLENT AUDIO AND RX, PLENTY OF POWER AND EASE OF OPERATION. CON: YOU MAY STRUGGLE WITH DIRCTIONS AND PROGRAMMING BUT WITH JUST A LITTLE BIT OF PATIENTS IT`S NOT HARD TO FIGURE OUT.

  • TYT TH6800

Pretty impressed with the radio, so far. I had a learning curve on programming it manually , but once I learned the proper order, it was very easy, going into the menu options, CT, V/M, and function buttons on the radio, or mic. Finally put a watt meter on the radio. 2 meter power output high = 18.2 watts Medium= 8.9 watts Low= 5.2 watts 70cm power output High= 9.5watts Medium=5.2 watts Low=2.9 watts It appears to be built very well out of aluminum frame and covers. Has a fan when on high power kicks on, to keep things cool. Water proof and dust proof and I have not had any bad reports using the mic on air into repeaters. Very small too. The size of 2 UV5r radios. And low current draw. What's not to like? At $109.00 for a dust proof/waterproof, built like a tank radio, it's hard to beat. 100% happy with it. Just might have to buy another one, just in case.

  • Good little unit for the price

The TYT TH-8600 is a good little unit for the price. Plenty of power while off-roading. Purchased two of these, and would purchase them again without hesitation.
