Such a darn shame that Oppo has left the consumer DVD player industry behind. Their products should have been sold at a much higher price point, the superiority of their equipment was undisputed. It will take years for the rest of the world to catch up to the bar that Oppo had set. I bought this one just to have a spare in case my current player craps out and paid 2.5x the original retail price. RIP Oppo - but until new formats or features are released, picking up one of these "new" players at any price is still a very good investment for the home theater buff. If you look at my pics - you'll see all McIntosh gear - save the Oppo to provide pure 4K native content to my Sony native 4K projector.

I own several Oppo players from the 93 to the 105D. All are exceptional quality. I recently bought a Sony 4k OLED TV and I wanted a player to match. The 105D picture and sound quality are amazing. I purchased the UDP-203...installed it in 5 minutes and the magic began. The sound is beyond what I have experienced before. I hooked it up to a Sony home theater receiver with eArc and it is amazing. The picture is so clear and immersive. I mourn that OPPO decided to get out of the Bluray player business. They left a huge hole in the 4k player business. Luckily you can still get these on eBay. They are pricey but if you are an home theater aficionado like me these units are gold.

I have owned at least a dozen Blu-ray players over the past decade, and the Oppo udp-203 is by far the best Blu-ray player I have ever had in my system. The features, image quality and sonics are extraordinary. If you can get your hands on a good working udp-203, you'll never regret it!

For many years, I have owned this machine’s predecessor, model 103. Despite the high price of a used player, as the manufacturer no longer sells them, I purchased one. Not surprisingly, the image quality is sensational, both for 4K, as well as regular DVD and Blu-ray Discs. I believe the image quality exceeds the Panasonic machine I had bought previously. Moreover, the Oppi is able to handle disc imperfections significantly better than the Panasonic. There is only one anomaly that I have detected- a transient flickering of the image on only a few dark scenes on Blu Ray and 4K discs, mentioned by others in AV user reviews. However, the vast majority of the program material could not be reproduced better.

I upgraded from the Oppo BD 83, with which I was very satisfied, but this new unit has a lot of new features, all built to Oppo's high quality standards, and after only a week with it I am very happy. No criticisms other than the high price, but in this instance you really do get what you pay for.
