Players guide a treasure-seeking diver through a shark-infested maritime maze, trying to avoid getting snared in seaweed, grab some sunken loot, and escape before the Loch Ness monster makes an appearance (someone seems to have booked a convention of aquatic adversaries in this maze). Though its graphics and gameplay are unremarkable, Lochjaw earns historical points for bringing on one of the earliest lawsuits of the Atari VCS era. The combination of the game's shark artwork and title got some unwelcome attention from Universal Studios, the owners of the Jaws copyright. Apollo agreed to make some cosmetic changes to the game as well as retitling it Shark Attack. An original Lochjaw cartridge is now a collector's item -- a treasure worth more than anything one may find in the game itself.
