At first, I thought the product was defective, but I just had to switch the direction of my HDMI cord (I don't have a reason for that), and it worked fine. Maybe that tip will help someone else, too. It also takes a little longer than usual to display the laptop image on my TV, so be patient! My only complaint is that if I try to do a split screen, or make the TV display the only display, there is a message that this device does not support that setting. But, I don't know if that's the cord or my TV (it is a little aged...). So the only setting that works for me is a duplicate display with my laptop screen still on. But that doesn't present a problem for me, just a little inconvenient. But for the price, I really can't complain!

The design made it especially easy to use. It worked very well at first both at 1080p and 720p. However, the micro-USB connector used to supply power to the converter broke after about a week. The connector was not aligned properly with the plastic end-cap of the case and inserting the USB cable resulted in a lot of stress on the connector. I do not know if the problem was the particular unit I received or the design of the device, but I bought a different design to replace it.

This is a good converter to use old laptops w only VGA output (for sport events) with new big screen LCD TV-s w/o VGA input. Works as expected, simply plug all connectors and the computer screen is on the TV.

Would have given it 5 stars, but the silver plastic case was not glued properly and it slips off exposing the electronics. I will have to pick up some superglue next time I'm at the dollar store...
