I have been playing DDR, stepmania, etc for years at the arcades before purchasing metal dance pads for home use. I have gone through two other metal pads before (I can't verify that they are the new "improved" versions of the V3's but look exactly like them) and within a few months, the plexi-glass (?), on BOTH pads where the arrows are were all cracked so that if you played barefoot you'd more than likely have a piece stuck in your foot or at least a very big cut. And I'm not a heavy person. I'm 5'0", and weigh just under 100lbs. I usually play on the hardest game mode per song, so I was skeptical buying another metal pad that wasn't the actual arcade machine itself. My worries have been put to rest with this dance pad, and I'm looking to buy another one soon, so I can play on both sides (Like how you can do at the arcade). The extra money is WELL WORTH IT for this dance pad. not a single crack in the glass or whatever material is covering the arrows. The sensors work well, although on rare occasion do miss, but again, it could be my weight (or lack thereof) combined with the fact that I do not "stomp" but step lightly when I play (again, I can't understand why the other models of metal pads I had owned previously had numerous cracks in them). I also like that this metal pad provides versatility. I own many gaming consoles, have used every one of the adapters this pad comes with and they all work. Only in the PC stepmania game does it seem that the settings need to be calibrated so that the steps register in time to the beat in the songs, but that seems to be a ROM/EMU issue, not the issue with the actual dance pad, as I've played across different gaming consoles, but it's only the PC rom that gives issue with the step timing. The only problem I did come across that IS the pad itself, is that if you leave it idle for just a bit too long, you have to disconnect and reconnect it from the console or pc so that it registers your button tapping again. Not a big deal, but slightly annoying. All in all, I'm giving it a 4 out of 5. I wish they had an option to do 4.5 out of 5 though, as that's only a minor issue.Read full review

I have used Dance Dance Revolution for years to keep the weight off and just for general fitness (my initial efforts led to losing and keeping off 60 lbs compared to the times before trying and using it). I always had a problem however with shorting out any type of traditional dance mat controller in just a matter of weeks. This hard dance mat is super accurate, easy to setup/use, and so far very durable (I am using it weighing 143 lbs, and recently added weights to my routine use). Eventually I would like to purchase one more of these in order to learn how to play Doubles on the game.

I had my doubts about this pad, but after using it for awhile I absolutely love it. Shipped really quick, I am using it for stepmania on win 10, No drivers where necessary, Just had to map the buttons correctly and it worked like a charm. One concern I had with this pad was, the buttons weren't sensitive enough and are slightly hard to press but I managed to make it better by cutting the strips of foam thinner and re gluing them underneath the arrows. After doing that I can play 10s with no problem. Whould recommend, and might even buy another one.

Despite having needed to be broken in, everything about these pads are perfect. A quick note for other buyers, if you use these pads on a computer that has Windows 10 itll register as a Playstation 3 Controller, which Windows might not display in your "controllers and joysticks" menu in the control panel and might not work initially. This can easily be fixed by disabling device driver enforcement by doing an advanced restart, it's easy just look up how to do it. If that doesn't work and you have been using a normal Playstation 3 controller you might have to uninstall the drivers for that controller and then plug in the DDR pads, also not to difficult. None of those problems are the seller's fault and after getting it to work they have been working amazingly (i got 2 of them together on the same computer). Hopefully my explanation will help save someone a few hours of the troubleshooting i did. The pads themselves ate sturdy and heavy as expected, and the metal panels are raised higher than usual which is a great feature. This is definitely a "wear shoes" pad because of that though. After roughly 25 songs on my soon-to-be home arcade DDR machine, they are working great, I've even gotten AAA grades on some of the easier medium difficulty songs. Again, very excellent product and a great job by the seller, just a technical hiccup in my setup thanks to Windows 10.Read full review
