Have used countless close quarter combat scopes and optical devices on various military type and grade weapons for over a quarter century. This includes the cheap models that I would to use as fishing weights all the up to the top of the line Trijicons and Leupolds. Concerning this scope, it is probably the best you can get for the price paid. It can be often found for around $300.00 which is a steal. You will have to buy a good mount for it and I would suggest the Burris P.E.P.R. models as a good, solid cost effective choice. There are better models of course but again, for the value it is a best buy also. The light intensity knob is great by the way. With every other click an on/off switch, settings stay where you want them. The scope can be used at 1x and works like an holographic sight with the added benifit of being able to zoom up to 4x for longer shots. The only negative I would like to mention is the reticle size. Since it's in the rear focal plane, it does not enlarge and covers a lot of target at longer shooting distances. Undoubtedly, placing the reticle on the front focal plane would cost a little more but it would be worth it.Read full review

Multipurpose scope, great for shotguns or "combination guns" like the Savage Model 42 or Model 24 (which have a rifle barrel on top and a shotgun barrel on the bottom). Set at 1x, this Burris scope acts like a red dot sight that works with or without batteries, so it's great for the shotgun barrel of a Savage Model 42. At 2x, 3x, or 4x it's a riflescope, great for the rifle barrel of a Savage Model 42. Another use would be on a hunting shotgun, as you could dial in 4x when turkey hunting, deer hunting, or bear hunting, then switch to 1x for hunting waterfowl or even skeet shooting! The Burris MTAC reticle (nicknamed the "donut of death") works with our without batteries, because when it's switched off (or if the batteries die), the reticle is still visible; it's just black instead of red.Read full review

Most people think Burris is a sub-standard product. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The MTAC is a culmination of years of research. The MTAC is built like a tank and has crystal clear glass. Easy to zero in and the Illuminated Reticle has a Bullet Drop Configuration that is dead on up to 400 yards with the recommended 5.56/.223 55 grain ammunition. Performs as well as my Vortex or Leupold Scopes that I own. Don't miss out on this hidden gem. It's price friendly too. Burris has a package deal, where you buy the MTAC Scope and the add in the fantastic Burris P.E.P.R. Mount, and their great Fastfire III that mounts on top of the scope, or yiu can use it on another weapon system. I have two of the Fastfire III's on my Glock's 17 and 19, and I love them. Give the MTAC an honest try and I think you will be pleasently surprised.Read full review

I wanted a scope for my new AR-15 that was as versatile as possible. The 1 - 4X mtac sounded like it would fit the bill. So far, I love it. At 1X it functions almost like a red dot for close range - both eyes open and no distortion but great eye relief, probably out to about 4 inches. At 4X, everything is clear and sighting in was easy with the unique reticle design. Only used out to 100 yds so far. Don't even need the illumination but I guess it is good that it is there. Big cool factor, also. Scope looks great sitting on top of that 5.56 bad boy, mounted with a Burris PPER QD mount. Great rig! My shooting buddy, who has more rifle experience than me (I was a pistol guy), LOVES it. I think he is jealous. Everything solid, tight, and well made. Zoom ring is a little tight but not a big deal. I wish it came with end caps though. Not a star's worth of disappointment, for sure.Read full review
I use on a Mini 30. Great scope, Easy to adjust. Holds zero. Quality construction. I find it much better that a red dot. No problem keeping both eyes open on one power and it’s great to have the 4X magnification for longer shots. Great warranty.
