Will not work (or unlikely to work, especially Samsung) with Lollipop unless you have the latest firmware. The only way I know of to update the firmware is to download the MS app from their app store, which requires Windows 10. You won't find the app if you are running Windows 8/8.1. Your hardware also has to support Miracast as the firmware will only update when you are connected. Reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the so restricted firmware update venue. In short, I was ONLY able to update the firmware with Miracast support hardware, running Windows 10. Also works with Intel WiDi.

The Microsoft Wireless Display adapter is basically a proprietary solution. It uses "Intel WiDi" technology on a basis that restricts it to certain PCs and laptops (e.g the graphics adapter must be Intel, not nVidia, AMD etc.), and also some tablets and smartphones. Most PC/Note book users will have to use a different product. My main annoyance apart from this is that it would probably work with a Galaxy Tab S I recently purchased, but the firmware would need to be updated first. In order to do that I would have to connect to it via WiDi in the first place using a "Miracast-compatible" PC/laptop! There is no USB update option- presumably the USB port on the adapter is power only, not data. Obviously I can't actually test the quality of the device without being able to connect to it.

For 20 bucks it can't be beat. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because on my tv it cancels out the tv remote controls. The volume is only controlled by my laptop and not the tv so it is insufficient even at 100% volume. To correct the issue I have to go to device control panel and set to computer speakers default and plug in external speakers to the laptop. An odd setup, but it works. I can't understand why Microsoft didn't wire the HDMI like, for instance, a DVD player so the tv controls would work. ???

Good connectivity with Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Not very excellent. I wouldn't stream movies thru it. It connects with Android too but I sometimes I encounter some difficulties trying to connect. I recommend it cuz I don't think there is a better option in the market yet.

It is good to enjoy using your laptop and watching stuff on the tv, but when you play a sound on your PC it plays it on the tv, which makes it overlaps with what you watch. It also cuts of and gets disconnects sometimes by itself. In addition, the image sometimes keeps cuting or breaking even though I'm very close to the TV. You need to consider these before buying, especially the sound issue. Because you have to listen to one thing at a time.
