This is a decades old antenna design. The stacked dipoles (the bowties) and the reflector (the screen behind them) result in a directional pattern. You get the strongest signal when you point the bowties, broadside, in the direction of the station you want to receive. Stations "off the back" or "off the ends" will be weaker. Ideally, this antenna should be rotate-able for this reason. But if you can't rotate it, it will pull in moderately strong stations from from other directions with a little trial and error aiming. This is not an antenna for getting very weak stations from far, far away, but it is a big improvement, even when mounted indoors, over those plastic mat antennas you stick in your window. Construction quality is very good, and assembly is very easy. All you need is a wrench.Read full review

Needs 2 antennas going in different directions and then put together into one cable line to TV. So 2 of these antennas are better than one

I live way out in a national swampland reserve!!....After I got it mounted to a 30 ft pole and then directionaly tuned it....I pulled in 21 channels....I'm gonna buy another 2 antennas of the same type and mount them in a triangular configuration and then use a 3 to 1 combiner.....to feed the signals from all three and should gain me another 14 channels....over all for the money and free shipping, it was a real bargin!!....I've made a lot of my own antennas....and some worked awesome....but with the plastic that separates some of the components of the antenna from corrosion....I'm feel I'm getting a better longer lasting problem free product that seem resistant to moisture and still sucks in the signals even during hard rains!!.....remember that 1 great engineered antenna with good RG6 cable and tuned is better than a expensive POS that won't perform as well!!....awesome cheap little antenna!!...buying 2 more!!Read full review

This design very efficient for it's size and has excellent receptivity. Mounted under the eaves, at 8 ft. - VHF Ch. 2 comes in well from 70 miles due west even with the antenna pointed NNW towards the local TV towers. Rception is excellent all across the UHF frequencies as well. Hard to beat this design.

I am in Spartanburg county in upstate South Carolina and receiving 42 channels. With the antenna mounted 10 ft above the ground two of the channels I receive are greater the 65 miles away from Charlotte NC. I am purchasing another one to mount in my attic and hoping it will do as well as the one I mounted outside.
