The drive passes all burn-in and SMART diagnostic tests. It is somewhat noisier in seeking than my Western Digital drives, but the bearing noise is not noticeable. The Hitachi drive is a solid performer after about three weeks of constant testing. The temperatures are comparable to my other 7200 rpm drives. It is still too early to asses the long term reliability.

Ordered 3 and 1 one was DOA with the click of death. Never got a chance to run any test. Too expensive to return. The other two check out perfect sector wise, temp wise and with a low power on count. Hours were also around 27k-29k actually less than I have on my machines now. Don't think I would buy again unless returns were easier. If all 3 had checked out It would have been a good deal Caveat Emptor.

This was a great hard drive and I used it after installing it in an external hard drive case. The only problem was an electrical issue from a leaky water heater. The power zapped out a few times. It killed this drive. Took it to a computer shop and they couldn't recover any of my files. It was an awesome drive when it was working...

SMART data shows it as a new drive with low hours and no errors. I'm using this as a data and backup drive and expect to get a long life out of it. These are high quality enterprise drives--Very happy with my purchase and the best hard drive deal I've ever gotten.

Have 12 of these installed in RAID in FreeNAS server. They are as fast as you could expect given the specifications. They are smooth and quiet. Power draw is within expectations. All drives report SMART status properly and have been issue free for about two months of continuous uptime. Would definitely recommend for anyone building a home NAS or backup system on a budget that isn't looking for enterprise grade drives. Recommend redundant RAID setup as I cannot vouch for longevity of drives at this time.
