The phone is a very nice upgrade from the Pre 2 - bigger, better screen, faster and more responsive, better camera. The only problems with it are due to stupid Sprint and Apotheker - I would be very happy with a fully supported Sprint Pre 3, backed by a phone manufacturer committed to the WebOS platform. Unfortunately, I have to pay AT&T's ridiculously high plan rates to get the phone I want, and who knows how long it will be viable without long-term support. If you want a phone that is easy to use, and all of the personal information management features just work right, then this is the one. If you want a load of silly Apps, get an iPhone or Android.
The HP pre 3 comes with the web OS 2.2.4, thos OS is impressive compared to other OS ive tried, specially compared to BB's. Its reliable, very stable, no freezed frames etc. surprisingly fast and very intutive. thats the best thing this cell phone has. On the downside its camera is not as good, i feel the sound from the ear-speakers is not as crisp and clear, low availability of apps, compared to BB, android, ios. Even though i must say, when you install "preware" you unleash the beast inside. VEry limited messaging/chat/communication tool (which is a bad thing, considering what smartphones are used for these days). BB's are two steps ahead in this particular field. Physically it feels well built, keyboard buttons have a gummy solid feel, gorilla glass on the front. overall id rate it a 8.5/10 adding pros and cons, and i must insist: It has the BEST OS, WebOS rocks I thing it would be for the best if Palm or HP continue supporting and developing the WEB OS potential, this is a rare and unique jewelRead full review
Sad to see such a beautiful phone with an amazing operating system was discontinued. WebOS operating system on the palm pre 3 to this day has not been matched by its competitors, iOS,wp, or android. It uses a card based interface which allows you for easy and true multitasking while navigating and having open apps. Its notifications are unobtrusive and convenient. Overall i would recommend this phone to you if your NOT a power user but want a great phone at a great price. Since its been discontinued do not expect any support from HP. The app selection as well is poor but through the online Palm community you can find alot of apps that you can install through preware. Other than that phone size is great, fits perfectly in your hands and pockets and has an amazing user interface with no buttons since everything is swype and gesture based. Love this phone and hope to see webOS make a comeback one day.Read full review
first, I am a Palm WebOS nut. I have two HP Palm TouchPads and a Palm Pre 3 phone. The HP Palm Pre 3 is a great phone. Most likely not the best but not the worst. it is extremely easy to maneuver between screens example phone to internet to email to text messaging to calender to a game. I have owned a HTC Evo which had the android operating system and I have numerous friends with apple phones. Their advantage is their large number of apps. HP palm Pre 3 lacks a large number of apps.. The other phones are not as easy to use. That is Pre 3's big advantage to me, is the ease of use. The Pre 3 is a great phone if someone want an easy to use, non complicated phone.
I start my smart phone journy with the palm treo and currently my everyday phone is a treo 680 with the Ultimate Phone app by 5X.I purchased the pre 3 inspite of HPs dropping the phone business.I already had experience with with the pre plus which I purchased through ATT for the classic app (it allowed use of the palm apps on WEBOS )that was availbe at that time. At first I felt that the touch screen wasnt as response as it should be, but to my surprise HP brought out an update that improved that issue as well improved the battery life. The hardware is excellent and a joy to use. If the reception indicator had more bars the features would have been 5 stars. Battery life has improved sense the update which is comparable with my treo 680 My only dislike is the lack of a good phone app like the Ultimate Phone that use on my 680. I am current tring to connect with some developers and pay for an app to replace my old favorite. I would at this point reckemend it for someone that needs a great phone out of the box that instantly connects to email and social media. Its truly amazing in that respect.Read full review
