This is easily the best ultrabook laptop I've ever used. It's got reasonable specs, it's very light and very power efficient, greater than 6 hours battery life, and it's extremely durable. This thing can take absurd levels of abuse, drenching it, dropping it, you name it. The current models don't hold a candle to it in ruggedness. The keyboard has excellent feel, the touchpad and trackpad are both great, the screen is evenly bright and has good color, it's just plain great all around. The original HDD is even a 7200RPM model, which is unusually good, though I did upgrade to an SSD for even better performance and battery life. It's a genuine shame they don't make them like this anymore.

I am a student studying computer science. I bought this laptop to take notes and do assignments. It is great for both of these things and with proper power management, I have not come close to running out of battery during the 6+ hours I am on campus at a time. Additionally, the laptop is very light. I think of it as no more than another notebook in my backpack. The IPS screen is great but the resolution is low, which can make programming a pain. Thankfully, the displayport works flawlessly with an adapter to output 1080p on a large external monitor. I don't do any gaming on this laptop and wouldn't expect to. The processor is fast but does not have great graphics capabilities. Overall, I am incredibly happy with my purchase. The laptop does everything I need it to very well.

To me this X220 with the Core-i5 is the ultimate portable notebook. It is fast, runs fairly cool and quiet, is durable, and the IPS display is brilliant. I previously used (and still have) an X220i with a mere Celeron CPU, which was not quite up to par for performance. The i5 solved that easily. Also, the X220 still has the superb "classic" Thinkpad keyboard, not the new and un-improved "chiclet" keyboard as on the X230 and newer. I have used other brands including Dell, HP, Toshiba, Acer, Asus, and Compaq, but the IBM/Lenovo T and X series have become my favorite over the years. I upgraded mine a bit: 256GB mSATA SSD as boot drive 1TB 7mm SATA HD for data 16GB of RAM (yes, it holds that much)

This laptop is several years old, so it doesn't have all the latest bells and whistles, but at ~$200, you get what you pay for. If you have a spare SSD laying around, you can speed it up significantly. I took that out, and put Debian Linux on it, which works like a charm! The power-to-weight ratio actually makes it better than many of the new machines on the market. ESPECIALLY if you don't want Windows 10. The seller I bought from leaves something to be desired, but ... it is what it is.

I really like this X220. Does everything I need it to with the exception of SD Card reader, which isn't working and may just need a driver. Screen is acceptable and the battery life is good.
