Most of today's hard drives are beginning to measure in the tera-byte range. But the older equipment is unable to accommodate this improving technology. This say's a lot about upgrade ability, or the limitation of it. For older laptops such as those made around the late 90's and early 2000's, these types of drives are fantastic. This EATA drive works fine in a system that uses an ATA/66 buss speed. My only dislike about it is the 40GB size, as it is installed in a system that runs three(3) OS's. So if your planning to use the older equipment for something other than a door stop I recommend this drive, they are still vary functional. If it's not broke don't fix it. J.B.G.
