These tiny adapter jacks are a God-send for DIY electronic geeks who need a *compact* panel-mounted DC power input. The 5.5 x 2.1mm chamber is a "standard" fit for a large variety of "wall wart" type AC adapters. Drill a hole, solder your leads, pop it in, tighten the bolt ... done. The outer housing is fully insulated for "closed ground" applications on metal panels, and they take up practically no more space on your panel than the adapter plug itself, with an equally minimal profile above the panel surface. Perfect, low cost solution.

This jack does what is asked of it. It makes a connection between power supply and whatever unit you are trying to power up. You do have to be careful though and not use too much heat, it is a solder joint jack and the base material is plastic. Too much heat will have your center post waving in the breeze. The second caution is the solder wire holes themselves are a bit small so a large wire is out of the question. Use a small gauge stranded wire like a .22 some low heat solder with a 60 watt or less soldering iron and no problem. Pretty good stuff

Other than not being able to tighten the nut enough to keep the socket from rotating when removing or inserting the plug, it was perfect for the project I was working on. I thought about using a glue of some sort when I installed it, but figured I'd wait and see. I just have to remind people when unplugging the cord from the socket, to just pull straight out and not twist.

Just as described, very nice for DIY projects or replacement of worn jacks. Easy mounted. Very pleased.

Good quality product. Works as expected. Must be careful at soldering. If you set higher temperature, or took to long to solder the wires, the plastic will melt. But, at this price is verry ok.
